The Neuromuscular Disease Foundation is pleased to invite applications for research grants which promote the development and/or testing of therapies for GNE Myopathy (GNEM) and related disorders. Grant awards of $75,000 per year are available for the 2023-2024 grant cycle. Larger budgets are possible following an approved request justified by the scale of the proposed project. Grant applications should address some aspects of gene replacement therapy for the treatment of GNEM. This can include the development of tools that would assist in gene therapy approaches’ development and clinical testing. While some elements of gene therapy efforts should be addressed in successful applications, grant applications can also address additional areas of emphasis, such as the development of additional therapeutic approaches for the treatment of GNEM or studies that reveal pathogenic mechanisms contributing to GNEM progression.
To submit a grant application, a Letter of Intent (LOI) must first be submitted by February 1, 2023. This LOI should provide contact information for the proposed project principal investigator and address three specific points within the given size limits:
- Outline of the proposed studies and specific aims (maximum 300 words)
- Impact of the proposed studies on treating GNEM (maximum 150 words)
- Timeline and estimated costs for the proposed project (maximum 150 words). If the application requests a budget over $75,000, this should be addressed here.
All LOI should be submitted by email to Science@CureGNEM.org by 5 A.M. UTC on February 1, 2023.
Proposed projects that effectively address the above areas of emphasis will be invited to submit a full proposal. Full proposals will be due by 5 A.M. UTC on March 31, 2023. Complete applications must conform to the following directions.
